Three great new RYA eBooks perfect for dinghy sailors and instructors

by Emma Slater on 6 Aug 2014
The RYA is delighted to introduce three fantastic new eBooks all perfect for dinghy sailors and instructors – RYA Start Sailing, RYA Dinghy Sailing and RYA National Sailing Scheme Instructor Handbook eBooks.

'The RYA Start and Advanced Handbook are both valuable reference books for a wide range of sailors and instructors looking to enhance their skills. With the advance to eBooks, both handbooks now contain fabulous video clips accompanying the original step by step technique guides. The addition of the RYA Instructor handbook, provides enhanced focus on coaching techniques and models, providing instructors with a unique and valuable resource at their fingertips', commented Amanda Van Santen, RYA Chief Instructor, Dinghy and Windsurfing.

The RYA Start Sailing eBook is designed to do exactly that; help beginners learn how to sail. Whether you go on an RYA course or learn from a friend, this eBook is packed with the essential knowledge you need to get started. From what you need to know before you get afloat to getting out on the water and developing your skills, the RYA Start Sailing eBook is crammed full of illustrations, photographs and useful video clips to enhance your learning experience and get you hooked on the sport.

Supporting text to the advanced sailing modules of the RYA National Sailing Scheme, the RYA Dinghy Sailing Advanced Handbook follows on from the RYA Start Sailing Handbook and is a must read for anyone looking to improve their knowledge and progress their sailing skills.

Covering topics such as day sailing, seamanship skills, sailing with spinnakers, starting to race and performance sailing this eBook provides clear instructions on the different manoeuvres and detailed explanations of relevant sailing theory, with detailed drawings and diagrams and video extracts from the RYA Better Sailing DVD to enhance your learning.

The last of the three new eBooks now available is the RYA National Sailing Scheme Instructor handbook and is the cornerstone of the RYA’s Dinghy Coaching course. This eBook is an essential purchase for anyone teaching on an RYA Dinghy, Multihull or Keelboat course. The RYA Sailing Instructor eBook incorporates information on the level three ‘Better Sailing’ qualification for the RYA’s National Sailing Scheme, as well as new diagrams, videos and relevant links to the RYA Advanced Sailing eBook.

For students RYA eBooks provide an invaluable source of learning as the practical elements are supported with narrated videos or animations demonstrating the various skills. RYA Instructors also find them great teaching aids as videos or animations can be used in group situations to illustrate elements of their teaching either through an external device or on a tablet. Bookmarks, notes and annotations can also be added to help highlight key points or simply find what you want when you want it.

'This set of resources delivers newcomers through to instructors and coaches an invaluable set of resources, guiding them through all aspects of learning the sport to coaching at higher level, in an exciting and interactive format!', concluded Amanda.

All these great eBook titles are also available to purchase in print format.
