Motocross, live music performances, 4WDs and rock crawlers of the real and remote controlled variety will be highlights on the Action Arena at the 2014 National 4x4 Outdoors Show and Fishing and Boating Expo on August 22-24 at the Melbourne Showgrounds.

The aptly named Action Arena will host a jam packed schedule, featuring plenty of thrills, spills, action and entertainment for visitors of all ages.

'Crowd favourite, Matt Schubring of Crusty Demons fame will thrill the crowds with his FMX talent while members of the Cross Country Drivers Association will push their skills and their vehicles to the limit in the thrilling 4x4 time trials,' Paul Mathers, Event Director said.

'The Ragged Edge Rock Crawlers will take 4WD'ing to the extreme in their purpose built vehicles as they drive up walls, along crevices and down massive drop-offs on our purpose-built track.

'Our show offers more than just great views of the action from the 360 degree seating in the Arena - visitors can also throw their leg over a Stealth electric bike to see what it can do on rugged terrain or experience the thrills of Black Jack the monster truck from the passenger seat.'

Another feature of the Action Arena this year will be the Hearns Hobbies team demonstrating the class-leading EXO 4x4 radio control rock crawlers.

Inside the Action Arena, the XXXX Retreat will feature live open-air performances from Australian rock music legends - with Mark Seymour of Hunters and Collectors fame and Ross Wilson, fresh from his National tour as the front man for Mondo Rock to take to the stage.

Mark Seymour and his band will be appearing at 1pm on the Saturday, while crowds on the Sunday at 1pm will be treated to the talents of Ross Wilson and his acoustic four piece band.

Another drawcard for visitors at this year's Show is the major prize of a fully-loaded Isuzu MU-X LS-M manual off-roader thanks to Isuzu Ute and Opposite Lock. Everyone who purchases tickets online via the Show App or website will automatically go in the $60,000 major prize draw, with visitors at the Show able to enter by submitting their details at the iPad entry stations.

More than 34,000 square metres will be dedicated to enjoying Australia's great outdoors, showcasing everything in the boating, fishing, touring, towing and 4x4 arenas, with tens of thousands of products on display and floor space squeezed to capacity.

The 2014 National 4x4 Outdoors Show and Fishing & Boating Expo will be held at the Melbourne Showgrounds from August 22-24, please go to www.4x4show.com.au for further information.

Fortune favours the Beneteaus!
Thank you, Huey… Some sun, and a tad of wind means it is time to go racing... Ahead of the annual Beneteau Pittwater Regatta by Flagstaff Marine the weather had not been all that grand. So, peaks of sun migrating to distinct patches, and the occasional zephyr turning into a waft, then on to a calm breeze was fortunate.
