After a long voyage in cramped conditions, with no washing facilities and only frozen dried meals to eat, the Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing (ADOR) team was eager for food, cold drinks and warm showers when they safely reached Gosport on the English south coast.
Having successfully completed its second Atlantic crossing in four weeks, Azzam will now undergo a thorough check by the shore team before its appearance at Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week, the Artemis Challenge and the Sevenstar Round Britain & Ireland Race over the coming weeks.
'It was a great crossing, although testing at times,' said Skipper Ian Walker of the passage which saw the crew encounter virtual flat calms as well as winds up to 40 knots and thunder and lightning storms.
