Coastguard Boating Education is hosting a Boating Safety Conference on Thursday August 28th 2014 at the Voyager NZ Maritime Museum in Auckland, NZ.

General Manager Neil Murray said that the conference is a new concept which will focus on boating safety in New Zealand under three key subject headings, participation, education and legislation.

The majority of attendees will be from the boating safety and maritime industry sector, marine manufacturers and the marine industry together with the legislators - Maritime New Zealand and Regional Councils/Harbourmasters.

Presentations and discussion will focus on how we can collectively grow boating as a leisure pastime and a major industry, with the collective goal that boating in New Zealand should be a safe and pleasurable experience for all.

Rob Waddell is the keynote speaker who will have recently returned from the Glasgow Commonwealth Games will recount his Olympic rowing achievements and his experiences within Team NZ and the Americas Cup.

A celebratory dinner will follow the day’s event with Pio Terei as our master of ceremonies for the evening.

The Agenda and Registration form can be found on the Coastguard Boating Education website.
