This year’s 30th Suncoast Super Boat Grand Prix, once again drew record crowds into the streets and along the beaches of Sarasota. An estimated 40,000 fans lined Main Street to cheer for their favorite teams and despite the rain shower towards the end, the crowd enjoyed what is one of the biggest holiday parades in Florida.
The Suncoast Grand Prix’s fleet of 41 race boats participated in two races along Lido Beach. With very little wind and flat seas during the second race of the day, the catamarans clearly had conditions on their side and as one of the five boats starting in the Superboat Unlimited class, #77 Lucas Oil once again showed reliability and perseverance pays off by finishing in second place.

The Suncoast Grand Prix Festival in Sarasota is one of the longest continuously running race sites in the world. In 2013, the festival generated an estimated economic impact of $17 million dollars and over the past 30 years, $14 million in facilities have been constructed by Suncoast Charities for Children serving children with special needs and their families.
