Sydney Boat Show news, Marine Auctions heat up, Auckland show preview

by Jeni Bone, editor on 8 Jul 2014
Welcome to another week bursting with marine news from around this blue world.

Mild winter weather, positive consumer sentiment and increasing international enquiry are driving the popularity of Marine Auctions, both online and at their Brisbane and Gold Coast venues. MD, Adrian Seiffert explains why auctions are a great way to buy and sell, achieving results to a deadline at the price the market will pay, allowing those who are moving on, up or down-sizing to get on with their plans, and those looking for a quality sail or power boat to get onboard at a good price.

Also this week, a barrage of new boats, entertainment, transport logistic news and the latest information in the lead up to the 47th Sydney International Boat Show, which will be held 31 July to 4 August across two venues: the on-water component at Cockle Bay, Darling Harbour and the undercover exhibits at Glebe Island, just half and hour or so away by free ferry or bus.

Domenic Genua, event manager with BIA NSW says transport will be running regularly each and every day throughout the five days, and that visitors and exhibitors will tolerate any inconvenience as the city anticipates the brand new and majorly improved convention centre that is planned for Darling Harbour, opening in three years coinciding with the boat show's 50th anniversary.

On our radars this week, the White House releases plans that will eradicate Somali pirates' nests, AIMEX reports another highly successful Aussie superyacht Captain, owners', crew and marine industry networking event in Tahiti, and the Gold Coast International Marine Expo urges exhibitors to get in soon to secure space at this year's event, to be held 17 to 19 October.

This burgeoning consumer show, now in its fourth year, is already at 60% capacity, so potential exhibitors are advised to get their applications in.

Over the Tasman, the Auckland on Water Boat Show is approaching, running 25 to 28 September in Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour - New Zealand’s only on-water boat show. From first time boat owners, to mates clubbing together to buy their first boat, and the serious yachtie looking to upgrade, the show is a must-visit.

Back next week with much, much more, and refreshed news each and every day.

Pleasant boating!
