The Dutch Show Marathon and Leukemia Cup Fundraiser supports San Diego junior sailor. San Diego Yacht Club . http://www.sdyc.org
On July 18, the San Diego bay will be taken over by a fleet of small boats, sailed by even smaller sailors. Over 180 Junior Sailors will race Sabots from Point Loma, under the bridge, and on to Coronado. Southern California is known around the world for producing talented sailors and this event will showcase some the brightest stars in junior sailing today. Hosted by the San Diego Yacht Club, this annual race has been running for 45 years, but this year will be different.

Twelve-year-old sailor Jack Egan, one of SDYC’s most promising young competitors and current Sabot II champion, was recently diagnosed with lymphoblastic lymphoma. To support Jack and other kids with this disease, Junior sailors at San Diego Yacht Club added the Junior Leukemia Cup to the Dutch Shoe Marathon. The Junior Leukemia Cup is designed to raise awareness and money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Friends and families can sponsor competitors in the Dutch Shoe Marathon. Tax deductable donations can be made directly on Jack Egan's fundraising page, where 100% of proceeds will go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

For anyone looking to take in the best that San Diego has to offer, this iconic race is truly a sight that both locals and tourists alike won’t want to miss. The three-hour race will begin at 12pm, and the best places to watch from shore are: Shelter Island, Seaport Village, Loews Coronado Bay Resort and Glorietta Bay.

We would love your support in getting the word out on this incredible event and fundraising opportunity. Together, this community can work together and make a difference.
