Newport Bermuda Race - Joe Harris across the line with GryphonSolo2

Joe Harris sailing GryphonSolo2 has crossed the finish line of the 2014 Newport Bermuda Race. Harris reports on the action.

We finished the 2014 Bermuda Race at about 0730 this morning and all is right with the world.

Please forgive my last transmission - if it was inappropriate - I apologize - just keeping it maybe a little too real.

Anyway, it is wonderful to be across the finish line as the wind quit again just as we were finishing but now we have turned on the engine and are headed for Hamilton and the RBYC.

Huge relief. Huge satisfaction. Hugely sweaty and in need of a shower.

Our friends Ed and Chad on Pleiad Racing beat us across the finish line to win the Class 40 Cup and we congratulate them.

This was a light air race and not necessarily our strength but we fought valiantly and we congratulate Pleiad who sailed a great race.

Its is now time to get the boat cleaned up and have some fun in GryphonSolo2

Grabbing chances with both hands
Can bad weather actually lead to more sailing? There's been no getting away from the fact that it's been a pretty miserable start to 2024 weather-wise in the UK. February saw record rainfall (yes, I know we're famed for our rain over here), it's been seriously windy and generally chilly.
