J70 Great Lakes Championship - Victory for Team Bayview

by Bayview Yacht Club on 19 Jun 2014
J70 Great Lakes Championship 2014 Bayview Yacht Club
Team Bayview, skippered by Paul Hulsey, won the J70 Great Lakes Champions this weekend at Cleveland Race Week. Alex Hume, Pete Petersen and Matt Graham rounded out the team. Team Bayview had a scoring line of 2-2-1-2-14-1-9-4-5-9 besting the 24 boat fleet by 13 points.

This victory in the teams' second competition follows a strong performance at last weekend Chicago NOOD Regatta where Team Bayview was the top amateur boat. Over the last two weekends, Team Bayview has seen the full scale of wind conditions and has excelled in all.

Paul was selected as skipper earlier this year to represent Bayview at the New York Yacht Club Challenge Qualifying Series which will take place early September in Newport, RI. His crew (Three crew and two alternates) include Sarah Somes, Todd Jones, Alex Hume, Pete Petersen and Matt Graham. The team has been training in the J70 all Spring. Next month the Teams training focus will switch to the Sonar Class which is the second type of boat that NYYC will use for the qualifying series.
