World Champion Sailor Allan Terhune, Jr. Joins Quantum One Design Team Gera Witte
Quantum Sail Design Group is pleased to welcome Allan Terhune, Jr. as Global One Design Director. Terhune will report to Quantum Executive Vice President Terry Hutchinson and provide oversight for the company’s one design program including customer support, sales and marketing, sail development, and program expansion.
Terhune’s one design sailing resume is impressive with a J/22 World Championship to his credit as well as eleven North American Championships including the Lightning, Flying Scot and Thistle classes. Terhune has also turned in top performances in the Etchells, J/80 and J/70 classes. In 2007, Terhune was awarded US Sailing’s One Design Leadership Award and named Rolex Yachtsman of the Year Finalist in 2008 and 2013.
'Quantum has an incredibly strong one design program with a lot of talent and loyal customers,' says Hutchinson. 'On the water, Quantum sails are proving to be successful in several classes--Melges 20, Melges 24, J/70--yet there are many opportunities where we can get better. Building on this foundation, Allan will help develop the Quantum structure to deliver even greater value to our customers. There is a lot of work to do and Allan’s expertise is welcomed.'
'I’m really excited about working with the Quantum team,' says Terhune. 'Quantum presents a great opportunity to grow a one-design business, not only in the classes where I compete but also beyond. Quantum already has a great product that we will work to refine and deliver to sailors around the world. It is an exciting time in our sport and the world of sailing and I am proud to be part of the Quantum team.'
Terhune is a resident of Annapolis, MD and graduate of the US Merchant Marine Academy. Prior to joining Quantum, Terhune worked with North Sails One Design and the US Naval Academy. Terhune can be contacted at aterhune@quantumsails.com or 732-644-1051.
