Australian boats making their public debut, new outboard engines, locally designed anchoring systems that have now gone international, the wildest boat wrap colour schemes, a brand new passage-maker in the charter fleet business and the perfect sharpener for fish filleting knives – they’re just a few of the outstanding attractions at the upcoming Mackay Boat Show.

The Mackay Boat Show, based at the Mackay Marina on Mulherin Drive, runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the weekend of Saturday June 21 and Sunday June 22 and will become the focal point of new marine product releases over that weekend.

Madfinns Boat Wraps will take this exciting marine art form to a new and higher level when it demonstrates how wraps are applied and uses a 4.5 metre tinnie to demonstrate the technique.

While first time exhibitors at the Mackay Boat Show, the company’s owners, Mick and Laurie Madsen are highly experienced in this marine art form having been applying the dramatic vinyl wraps to boats for the past six years.

Voyager Catamarans will be launching the Sportsfish version of the company’s V625 trailer cat at the Mackay Boat Show boosting the number of variations of this hull length to three and adding further prestige to the show’s growing reputation as a major showcase of innovative marine excellence.

The other V625 trailer cats are the Classic and the Hardtop.

The Sportsfish version is being built under contract by the Haines Signature factory at Wacol in Queensland.

This design is very versatile allowing it to be built with either an open or lockup cabin with a choice of two singles, or a king-size berth.

The large cockpit can incorporate bait tanks, fish boxes, side pockets, and a deck wash among other options.

Similarly, there are various seating options available along with storage lockers, fresh water systems, cooking and refrigeration equipment, toilet and a range of canopies and storm covers.

With a boat, motor and trailer weight of typically between two and two and a half tonnes, the V625 is easily towed.

It also is becomes a very easy power cat to launch and retrieve and carries with it that traditional ultra-soft, cushioned cat ride.

Voyager Catamarans also have 950, 111000 and 1250 models.

If power catamarans are your choice but you don’t want to own one, you can check out the new Perry 445 which has been added to the impressive fleet managed by Cumberland Charter Yachts.

Cumberland is bringing the new Perry from its base at the Abel Point Marina, Airlie Beach to the Mackay Boat Show where it will be on the water, open for inspection.

This outstandingly comfortable passage-maker can be hired for as short as three nights.

It is one of 21 vessels in the fleet managed by Sharon Flint and which can be chartered as a bareboat where you are the skipper, or alternatively, with a highly skilled skipper at the helm.

Cumberland Charter Yachts have been operating since 1987 and staff know every bay, inlet, beach and vista throughout the Whitsundays making the company an invaluable marine and tourism resource.

For those with a focus on tinnies, Mackay-based dealership, Ocean Marine will be assembling an impressive display from its ranges of Stessco, Aluvan, Savage and Formosa aluminium boats.

And in doing so, the company will be offering the option of matching them with the new 40 and 50hp Tohatsu four stroke engines which have just been released and will be making their public debut at the Mackay Boat Show

The new Tohatsu outboards are backed with a five year warranty for recreational use.

Adding even further diversity, Ocean Marine will have the Smart Wave range of poly boats on display, Evinrude E-Tec engines and the Sea-Doo range of personal water craft.

Making sure none of those tinnies and water craft drift away, will be yet another invention from the Cooper family.

This time, the talented family which already has invented a unique moving rowlock system for racing sculls as well as a better way to manage weights for sash windows, will be showcasing the Cooper Anchor.

Manufactured in three sizes – small, designed for kayaks and canoes; medium for personal water craft and boats to 3.5 metres; and large for vessels to around five metres, these anchors break the traditional barriers by being manufactured in nylon while maintaining excellent holding power.

Company owner, Larry Cooper has sold more than 17,000 of these unique anchors and has just embarked on an export program. Already, around 1,500 have been shipped overseas.

Underscoring the level of development that has gone into the exercise, Mr Cooper had hoped to complete the design and have it ready for production in around eight weeks.

The job actually took eight years but now, along with motor mowers, clothes hoists and a raft of other products, is destined to become a milestone Aussie invention.

If the new boats and motors spur you and your fishing rods into action, Mo Chase from In The Kitchen has the answer to put the keenest edge on your fish cleaning and filleting knives.

Mr Chase is a distributor of the Kleva Sharp knife sharpener – an ultra-convenient and effective answer to a common issue face fisherfolk.

He will be demonstrating the sharpener throughout the show.

As well as that, the Mackay Boat Show this year will also feature 2 Bent Rods which is an educational program to help kids with their fishing as well as fun and entertainment for every member of the family.

And continuing the great news about Mackay Boat Show, entry is free. Yes, a free boat show.
