Olympic sailor next King of Spain

Spain's Crown Prince Felipe de Borbon, a former Olympic yachtsman, will take the throne sometime later this year following his father's Juan Carlos abdication in favour of Felipe after nearly 40 years on the throne.

Prince Felipe, 46 , the third child and only son of Juan Carlos and Queen Sofía of Spain, was a member of the Spanish sailing team at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games, he was the flag bearer for the team at the Opening Ceremony and finishing sixth in the Soling class.

Its almost a family tradition, in 1972, Juan Carlos competed in the Dragon class sailing event at the Olympic Games, finishing 15th. He became the King of Spain in 1975.

Terrific Torre still undefeated Marcello Torre and his Gage Roads Sailing team rolled on through the second day of the Warren Jones International Youth Regatta still undefeated after ten rounds. Speaking at the end of the day the skipper put their performance down to "experience".
