Time holandês da Volvo Ocean Race escolhe novatos para regata

Comunicado de imprensa emitido em nome do Team Brunel: Equipe de Bouwe Bekking anuncia mais dois tripulantes para a Volvo Ocean Race.

Depois de quatro meses de treinamento intensivo, o Team Brunel anunciou mais dois tripulantes para a disputa da Volvo Ocean Race. E, para se adequar à regra da competição, a equipe escolheu dois atletas sub-30. Os recrutados para fazer parte da tripulação holandesa foram: o belga Louis Balcaen e o lituano Rokas Milevi?ius, com 25 e 27 anos, respectivamente.

'Foi uma decisão difícil', explicou o holandês Bouwe Bekking, que vai liderar o Team Brunel na Volvo Ocean Race. 'Todos os candidatos são grandes velejadores e sabem trabalhar em equipe. Mas a escolha foi pelo atleta mais adequado às posições. O Louis Balcaen mistura entusiasmo e talento, já o Rokas Milevi?ius é bastante experiente em regatas internacionais e campanhas olímpicas'.


Falta apenas um velejador para o comandante Bouwe Bekking completar a equipe que disputará a aventura pelos mares do mundo.

Os velejadores escolhidos para o Team Brunel estão confiantes. Para o belga Louis Balcaen é um sonho correr a Volta ao Mundo. 'Ainda há muito o que aprender. Estou muito ansioso para começar e vou trabalhar duro para provar ao Bouwe que ele tomou a decisão certa'.

Já Rokas Milevi?ius faz história e será o primeiro lituano a competir na Volvo Ocean Race. 'Estou orgulhoso de que fiz até aqui. Minha escolha dará um enorme impulso à modalidade na Lituânia'.

O Team Brunel definiu mais três velejadores reservas, que não passaram na seleção final, mas mesmo assim continuam nos planos caso haja uma possível baixa: Pieter -Jan Postma (Holanda), Timo Hagoort (Holanda) e Robert Stanjek Volvo Ocean Race
