Poseidon Jeni Bone
Part of the Yacht & Boat Korea display at Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, was the very sleek and seductive Poseidon jet bodyboard and underwater scooter.
The invention of Mr Park Tae Kyu, who made up part of the Korean contingent at SCIBS, the Poseidon attracted many admirers with its bold design and promise of 'on-water and underwater mobility'.
With an average run time of 90 minutes, the 5hp device weighs just 63kgs and takes around 2 hours to recharge. It can take you 10-12 kms/h to a depth of 10m. It could easily fit in a sedan or in the back of a ute or station wagon and is eco-friendly, as it relies on electricity for its power. The marketing material states that due to its limited power, there is no need for a license, but locals interested in finding out more about this nifty water toy would have to investigate Australian regulations.
No doubt it will be among the hundreds of clever gadgets, gear and boats on show at next year's Yacht & Boat Korea, 30 April to 3 May 2015.
