Rolex Capri Sailing Week - Another day on hold for Azzurra

by Giuliano Luzzatto on 24 May 2014
Azzurra - 2014 Rolex Capri Sailing Week Pasquale Maresca
Even though the Race Committee repeatedly attempted to line up a start, racing had to be called off in the Rolex Capri Racing Week again today. Azzurra and Vesper remain tied for points at the head of the provisional results.

As forecast, a weather front from the Atlantic moved in and the sky was cloudy and there were frequent showers. No sea breezes kicked in to create the conditions to get the racing started. The light winds that there were off the Isle of Capri were shifty and unsteady and as a result, even though the expert Principal Race Officer Peter Reggio kept his hopes up and the boats on the water, it wasn’t possible to set up a decent race course. The races had to be called off again today.

Tomorrow, May 24th, racing will be scheduled for an hour earlier, 11:00 AM, so that as many heats as possible can be held.
