by Sail Canada on 18 May 2014
Isabella Bertold Alberto sanchez
The Delta Lloyd Regatta is on the horizon, with the event taking place May 20th – 24th at the International Sailing Center Medemblik, Netherlands. The former World Cup event will be taking focus on a number of classes including the 470, 49er, Finn, Laser, Laser Radial, RS-X and more, while breaking ground with the high energy inauguration of Kite surfing at the Delta Lloyd Regatta.

The Canadian contingent is led by the always competitive Isabella Bertold (RVYC), who continues her podium pursuit. Competing alongside Bertold in the Laser Radial is fellow national team member Brenda Bowskill (RCYC), most recently making her medal race debut in Lake Garda. On the Laser course, we will find national team member Matthew Ryder (SLYC), along with fellow Canadian Mathew Sherar.

Meanwhile former national team member and 49er sailor Michael Brodeur highlights an excited group of Canadians who are taking part in the premier of the demonstration sport kite surfing event at the Delta Lloyd Regatta. Along with Brodeur are Andrew Wong and Catherine Dufour who will attempt to be the first Kite surfing champions in the history of the Delta Lloyd Regatta.

Medemblik, which is located 40 kilometers north of Amsterdam, has been the host to a number of international events such as European and World Championships since it opened in 1999, and the location is ready to welcome the world of Canadian and International Sailors eager to showcase their talents at the 2014 Delta Lloyd Regatta!

Action starts next Tuesday May 20th until the 24th. Check out all the details here.
