Wetas have a Spring Fling at Michigan - May 2014 Tim Wieringa
It's official, the Wetas are racing in the Midwest!
Three Wetas met at the Univ of Michigan sailing club for their Spring Fling Regatta. We joined two 470s, two Albacores and a Laser for six races and an outstanding lunch. The course was a windward- leeward course with a long reach leg on the first lap. The winds could be best described as constant change. We had winds from 5 to gusts of 15+, with three or four shifts on every leg. The event was well run and MSC is a great and gracious group of people.
The Wetas were sailed by racing newcomers Michael Boks (18) Tim Wieringa (with daughter Alexis on the three final races) (910). Boat 622 was sailed by MSC board member Carey Jones to third place finish on corrected time. The Wetas received great reviews from the MSC members that tried them out during the lunch break and after the racing was done.
Thanks to the University of Michigan for a great regatta!
