Audi-Tron Melges 20 Sailing Series - Act 2 preview

by Melges 20 on 10 May 2014
2014 Audi Melges 20 Audi Tron Sailing Series BPSE / Zerogradinard
For the second act of the 2014 Audi-Tron Sailing Series - the very first environmentally friendly regatta of its kind - thirty-seven Audi Melges 20s are ready and set to converge on Porto Ercole this weekend. A very special thanks to title series sponsor Audi in strong partnership with Torqueedo as they provide electric outboard motors complementary to every team during the event.

The fleet is robust in representation and spirit. Competitors traveling from six nations are in attendance representing Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, Monaco and Russia. This is an important milestone to consider as the International class works its way up to the pinnacle World Championship later in the year at Riva del Garda on 27-30 August.

Leading the charge from great success in Napoli is current overall series leader Guido Miani aboard Monaco Racing Fleet as well as runners up Achille Onorato on Mascalzone Latino, Jr. and Giancarlo Capolino on Legionario.

Other teams on the watch list are Dario Levi's Fremito D'Arja, Alessandro Rombelli's STIG, Lauro Bonora's Camay, Federico Albano's 3Menda and Mirko de Falco's Peccere. Newly crowned Russian Open Champion Valentin Zavadnikov and his Synergy team surely is on a performance upswing along with Pasquale Orofino's Raffica.

As in the past, the start of the Audi Tron Sailing Series means the return of the Audi test drives too. Located at the De Angelis pier, anyone can get behind the wheel of flagship models such as the A3 g-tron, S3 Sportback, A1 Sportback, SQ5 or RS6. For further details, please call 345.9585343, or email info@atton.it.

In addition to main sponsor Audi, the Audi Tron is supported by official sponsors Kuehne+Nagel, Torqeedo electric motors and technical partners such as the Ente Fiera di Genova, Nespresso and Olicor.
