Product of the Week- Marine Film

by Lee Mylchreest on 19 Apr 2014
MarineFilm - repairs hulls and scratch-caused stress at the same time SW
There's nothing more annoying when you have lovingly restored your hull to perfect than to have some unthinking other come along and scratch it. Or maybe the dock was not as rubbery as you thought and after you leave you find a scratch.

But just keeping some marine film in a locker can take the stress out of life until you get a chance for a proper repair - that's why it's this week's Product of the Week.

I wish I had learned about this sooner. I guess I may not have been so angry on several occasions...

These days, I think Marine Film is really great. It is an eco-friendly, ultra-thin adhesive film coated with high quality paint designed to provide a temporary repair of small scratches in gelcoat and paint above the waterline.

Fate dictates, of course, that if you have the repair tape in your locker, the hull won't get scratched anyway. If you don't have it, it's sure to happen.

It's available in the twelve most popular gelcoat and Interlux topside paint colors. It's ready-to-use right out of the package and easy to apply. Simply locate the scratch, clean the damaged area and carefully apply the microfilm.

Applying it really is as simple as the video:

Provides an almost invisible, strong, season-long adhesion and is easily removable when the scratch is ready to be permanently repaired.

Got some questions? You can have them answered here.

If it's not available at your nearest marine paint dealer, you can find more information here
