Wake Park National Championships and Wakeboard Nationals preview

by World Wakeboard Association on 7 Apr 2014
SW
The Nautique WWA Wake Park National Championships presented by Rockstar, for the second consecutive year, will run at the same time and location as Wakeboard Nationals. The prestigious competition will take place at BSR Cable Park in Waco, TX. from July 24-26.

To accommodate the increasing number of cross-discipline athletes that specialize in both wake park and boat riding, the event has been scheduled to allow riders to compete in both events at Nationals. While dual participation is not required, the option opens the door for contestants to claim added bragging rights in the friendly-rivalry that exists between park and boat riders.

'Nautique is excited to once again be able to include both Wakeboard and Wake Park Nationals together, promoting the diversity of our sport at the highest level of competition. The feedback we have received from fans and competitors has been extremely positive, as we are focused on promoting the sport of wakeboarding as whole along with our sister company Aktion Parks and great partners like BSR Cable Park,' said Bill Yeargin, President/CEO of Nautique.

'As a sport, wakeboarding is in a huge stage of growth and progression that is being influenced by both boat and cable riders,' said Chris Bischoff, competition director. 'So many of the athletes excel in both styles of wakeboarding, it’s great to be able to produce a contest that allows them to compete for national championships in both categories.'

With more than 150 riders expected to participate in Wake Park Nationals and more than 200 in Wakeboard Nationals, the two events will combine to create one of the largest national championship competitions in the sport’s history. Some of wakeboarding’s biggest names will be at BSR for the events including Nautique team riders Bob Soven, JD Webb and Raimi Merritt.

The Nautique WWA Wakeboard National Championships presented by Rockstar also serves as stop number five on the King of Wake Series. For more event information, including daily schedules, tickets, results, standings, photos, videos, athlete bios and more, click here.
