The Gosford Sailing Club is hosting a very special event to raise money for S.O.L.A.S. by way of a luncheon this coming Friday at the Latitude 33 Restaurant within the club premises.
The Safety of Life at Sea Trusts (S.O.L.A.S.) was established by the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia following the loss of six lives in the 1998 Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. The Trusts' objectives are to; assist the immediate needy family of those lost at sea during Yachting Australia sanctioned races; provide assistance to search and rescue organisations; foster research and training to improve procedures and equipment for use at sea.
Special guest speakers at the luncheon include Yachting Journalist Rob Mundle, Skipper of Wild Oats XI Mark Richards, CYCA Commodore and SOLAS Trustee Howard Piggott.
This event coincides with the launch of the Mt Gay 40th Gosford to Lord Howe Island Race and there will be a briefing and form rundown on the competitors.
Please join us for what promises to be an exciting and informative day.
Tickets are limited and should be pre purchased by contacting the GSC office 02 43257216.
