The Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show team has reeled in boating and fishing guru Paul Burt as ambassador for this year’s 26th annual show.

The 7 News weather, beach, boating and fishing expert is one of Queensland’s most experienced TV presenters and will help to promote the event during the lead up while also playing a key role at the show, hosting fishing tip presentations, live weather crosses and special appearances at SCIBS over the four days from May 22 to 25.

Mr Burt said he was looking forward to being involved in the world renowned event.
'Anybody who has a love for boating, fishing or the marine lifestyle in general knows this is the show to visit when it comes to seeing the latest and greatest from exhibitors,' Mr Burt said.

'I’m excited to be the ambassador for this event especially as it enters the next phase and unveils a new look for the 26th consecutive show.

'I look forward to working with the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show team and getting amongst the action when the gates open on May 22.'

As the ambassador Mr Burt will be participating in the media launch of the Boat Show and the official opening on May 22 while also hosting fishing tip presentations throughout the event.

SCIBS visitors can also go in the draw to win a deep sea fishing adventure with Paul Burt himself, offering the perfect opportunity to put his fishing tips into action.

Mulpha Sanctuary Cove’s head of events Johan Hasser said he and the Boat Show team was delighted to have the expertise of the Gold Coast local on board.

'Paul is great at what he does and it seemed only logical to approach him to be an ambassador for the show, given he is a local and knows so much about the marine lifestyle,' Mr Hasser said.

'He will add yet another dimension to the show. We expect his fishing tip presentations to be popular with Boat Show visitors and we know that he will do an excellent job in his formal capacities for the media launch and opening of the show.'
Paul Burt has over 20 years’ experience when it comes to being in the media’s eye for beach, boating, fishing and weather.
His career began in 1993 when he began writing a weekly column about fishing and boating for the Gold Coast Bulletin and he has since become a familiar face on television and graced the airwaves with regular updates.

Sponsored by Club Marine and Maserati Euromarque Brisbane, SCIBS 2014 will run from May 22 to 25.

In 2014, SCIBS has partnered with Translink to offer free train travel to and from the 2014 Boat Show on all regular Queensland Rail City Network trains when users display a pre-purchased ticket to the event.

Translink will also run Free ‘Park ‘n’ Ride’ services for all self-drive visitors from Helensvale.

The 2014 Boat Show will showcase a wide variety of international boating brands, products and technologies on display alongside the superb backdrop of the award-winning Sanctuary Cove marina and The Marine Village.

Offering something for the whole family, SCIBS will also feature a full program of live entertainment, cooking demonstrations and seminars as well as a kids zone and Women on Water program throughout the four-day event.

Tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster. Adult day passes start at $20, with concession passes available for seniors and students. Children under 18 are free. Visit www.ticketmaster.com.au for more information.
