The Gotta Love It 7 team of Seve Jarvin, Sam Newton and Scott Babbage officially became the 2014 JJ Giltinan 18ft Skiff champions on Sunday after an impressive regatta performance with five bullets and a second across the six race series.
This regatta win gave skipper Seve Jarvin his sixth victory as a skipper in the championship, equalling the record of Iain Murray (1977-1982, inclusive), who is now team manager for Gotta Love It 7. We trust you have enjoyed our coverage over the last 15 seasons
Now Jarvin and Sam Newton will shift their focus to the AC Team Australia campaign with World Sailor of the Year 2014 Mat Belcher leading the squad.
Three cities in Europe have submitted expressions of interest in hosting sailing's ISAF World Championships in 2018, while a bid from a fourth candidate will be considered early next week.
Aarhus in Denmark, The Hague in the Netherlands and Gdynia in Poland all met the March 1 deadline of International Sailing Federation (ISAF) to submit bids to host the quadrennial world championships for all Olympic disciplines.
However, it is reported according to Sportcal that a fourth bid has now come in, from an unknown city thought to be in Asia.
Because that bid missed the original deadline, it will go before the ISAF 2018 World Championships Evaluation Panel on Monday, which will decide whether the bid can proceed. While it would be great to have an Asian venue for 2018, would be a serious concern with all kinds of legal repercussions if ISAF was to attempt to tear up the rule book.
