Adam Middleton, Michael Cook and William Eastman sailing for Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club have convincingly won the 2014 CentrePort International Youth Match Racing Championships.
Over four days of racing the team dropped only one match in a dominant all round performance across a range of conditions.
In second place was Sam Mackay, Stuart Williams and Ben Caundle also from Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club while Murray Jones, Matt Stenta and Angus Williams from the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia rounded out the podium in third place.
With the loss of a day’s sailing on day three due to windy weather it was always going to be tight to try and achieve a series for the sail offs for fifth to eighth and unfortunately on this occasion they were unable to be sailed meaning that places reverted to the Round robin results.
Celebrations were had by Middleton and Cook; Middleton winning his first major regatta as skipper, and Cook winning his first (many times the bridesmaid) in his last regatta before aging out in May.
