SCIBS provides FREE train travel for ticket holders

by Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show on 5 Mar 2014

In 2014, Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS) pre-paid ticket holders and accreditation pass holders will be able to enjoy free train travel to and from the event from May 22 to 25.

The SCIBS team announced a new partnership with Translink this week, which will offer free train travel to and from the 2014 Boat Show on all regular Queensland Rail City Network trains when users display a pre-purchased ticket to the event, as well as offering free ‘Park ‘n’ Ride’ services from Helensvale.

Visitors coming by train, along with Park ‘n’ Ride patrons will be shuttled the short distance to SCIBS from two convenient locations in Helensvale including Helensvale Train Station and the Park ‘n’ Ride facility located at Millaroo Drive.

Mulpha Sanctuary Cove head of events Johan Hasser said the announcement comes as a huge coup for the Boat Show and would provide a convenient and cost effective travel option for SCIBS visitors.

'We are very pleased to announce Translink coming on board in support of this year’s SCIBS,' said Mr Hasser.
'We are excited to be able to offer an all inclusive transport and ticket option and that’s great news for our visitors.
'With show tickets starting from just $20 now including free train travel, it is a great benefit to the show and will make transport to and from SCIBS more economical and easier than ever before.'

With no visitor parking available on site, Mr Hasser said the Park ‘n’ Ride option will also be the best way for self-drive visitors to make their way to Sanctuary Cove, with dedicated shuttle buses running continuous pick up services from the new location in Helensvale.

'The Park ‘n’ Ride shuttle services will minimise the time visitors spend getting to and from the show and let them make the most of their time enjoying all of the attractions SCIBS has to offer.'

A major annual event on the Gold Coast calendar, SCIBS attracts more than 30,000 visitors each year, with the majority of those travelling from south east Queensland and northern New South Wales.

The Park ‘n’ Ride shuttle bus services will operate from 7am - 7pm on Thursday May 22 and Sunday May 25, with extended hours of 7am - 9pm for Friday May 23 and Saturday May 24.

The new pick up point for the Park ‘n’ Ride facility is located at Millaroo Drive, Helensvale, just south of Westfield Helensvale and is easy to find off Exit 62 travelling from either direction on the Pacific Motorway. This car park is free for all visitors of the Boat Show.

The shuttle service will also run from Helensvale Train Station for those taking advantage of the free train travel, located on Town Centre Drive at Westfield Helensvale.

More information about transport options available for SCIBS 2014 can be found on the SCIBS website www.sanctuarycoveboatshow.com/visit/how-to-get-here/

Sponsored by Club Marine and Maserati Euromarque Brisbane, SCIBS 2014 will run from May 22 to 25.

The 2014 Boat Show will showcase a wide variety of international boating brands, products and technologies on display alongside the superb backdrop of the award-winning Sanctuary Cove marina and The Marine Village.

Offering something for the whole family, SCIBS will also feature a full program of live entertainment, cooking demonstrations and seminars as well as a kids zone and Women on Water program throughout the four-day event.

Tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster. Adult day passes start at $20, with concession passes available for seniors and students. Children under 18 are free. Visit www.ticketmaster.com.au for more information.
