Cruising Prep Seminars Well Received in Australia

by Helen Horrocks on 21 Feb 2014
Island Cruising Association seminar series in Australia a sellout in the major centres SW
The Island Cruising Association’s (ICA’s) series of Cruising Preparation Seminars currently taking place in Australia have so far been extremely well received, with sell-out crowds at all the major centres.

The two-day seminars are intended to give those interested in extended offshore or coastal cruising the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to 'live the cruising dream'.

The subject matter has obviously struck a chord with Australian audiences, because ICA’s John Martin has already presented to packed houses in Fremantle, Melbourne and Sydney this month.

More seminars are scheduled to take place in NSW and Queensland between now and the end of March, and there are still plenty of spaces left at the Airlie Beach, Townsville and Cairns seminars.

One participant – Chris from Fremantle – said: 'The seminar gave my partner the confidence to go cruising – I owe ICA big time!' While Dan from MacKay said: 'This course is amazing – it’s saved me thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours'.

The seminars cover everything from choosing the right cruising boat, to what type of gear to take, and even lessons on how to carry out emergency repairs to engines, sails and steering at sea.

Participants are schooled in over 30 topics over the course of a weekend, with the option to take additional intensive sessions after the course, and even personal one-on-one sessions on their own boat.

The full seminar syllabus and remaining Australian course dates can be found online at http://www.islandcruising.co.nz/?page_id=1563.
