Thinking of chartering in the Med? - new base for the Aeolian Islands

by Lee Mylchreest on 17 Feb 2014
Tropea - perfect base for exploring the Aeolian Islands SW
If you are thinking of chartering a boat to sail in the Mediterranean any time soon, there's a new charter base to consider. Following a new partnership between sail charter companies, the Aeolian Islands become more accessible from the port of Tropea as the base.

Sailitalia, an Italian charter company, is pleased to announce the partnership with Sunsail in order to facilitate expansion into the beautiful new Mediterranean cruising area of Italy.

Tropea, one of the most beautiful towns on the south Tyrrhenian coast, is the ideal departure point to visit the magical Aeolian Islands, only 30 miles away. The town of Tropea has almost completely preserved its16th century planning and is both historically and architecturally fascinating.

The new Sunsail base is located in the main marina, just an hour from the international airport of Lamezia Terme. The new base, which offers bareboat and skippered charter, is located on the southwest coast of Italy, perfectly located for sailing in Sicily toward Aeolian islands.

Sicily, which is well known for its unique natural beauty and the highest active volcano in Europe, also has another Sunsail and Sailitalia base. This base is 20 miles from Palermo International Airport, and can also be reached by ferry and hydrofoil from Naples. The coast offers a landscape of fascinating beauty, with smaller islets scattered all around the coast. Palermo is a perfect location to Yacht charter Sicily to discover Egadi and Pelagian Islands.

The new Italian locations join Sunsail's existing bases in Croatia, Greece, Turkey and a new openings base in British Virgin Islands. The fleet of yachts and catamarans offered range from 31ft to 50ft with double staterooms, complete electronics and fully equipped galleys.

One-way charters are also available, as well as flotilla sailing, cabin charter and team building events.

For more information go to your local yacht charter broker or to Sunsail or Sailitalia direct
