Coral Sea Cruising Guide - from Jack and Jude Binder

by Sail-World Cruising on 3 Feb 2014
Area covered by the Coral Sea Cruising Guide SW
Jack and Jude Binder, cruising couple extraordinaire, have compiled a free cruising guide of the Coral Sea. Australian cruising sailors from the southern states often think of cruising to the Whitsundays, but here's a whole new adventure - the reefs, atolls and islets of the magic Coral Sea.

The Coral Sea occupies that part of the Pacific Ocean off the east coast of Australia between the parallels of Sandy Cape and Torres Strait, bounded by the SW coast of New Caledonia to a line drawn to the Louisiade Archipelago and south coast of Papua New Guinea.

Unlike the Great Barrier Reef, here you'll find superb diving in clear water without jellyfish, great fishing, heaps of wildlife and, sometimes the best of all, solitude.

The guide covers Cato Island, Holmes Reef, Porpoise Reef, Lihou Reef, Kenn Reefs, Diamond Islets, Saumarez Reef, Magdelaine Cays, Frederick Reef Willis Islets. Flora Reef and Mellish Reef.

The information is from personal experience over multiple visits, and the historical notes and information are from sources such as direct from the supplier or Wikipedia

These are downloadable files available in multiple formats for A4 printing/PC/Ipods/Ipads/Kindle that contain more photos of the anchorages and attractions with additional historical notes. You can support their efforts by a making a small contribution – Buy them a beer.

Why buy Jack and Jude a beer:
Every year Jack and Jude purchase additional recording equipment to help bring planet Earth closer to yachtsmen, adventurers, and armchair travellers in the hope others will find the same joy and amazement as they do. 'Maybe,' they say on their website, 'together we can help protect Earth and her creatures from mankind’s population explosion.'

They devote countless hours recording images and video, collating that data, editing and packaging it, and then finding the means to distribute finished products. These processes occupy most of their thoughts and much of their time, and they very much enjoy the majority of it.

Please support their mission. They are retirees with limited funds who find the cost of equipment and services are gobbling up their cash. You are free to copy the file from their website, but there are downloadable files available in multiple formats for A4 printing/PC/Ipods/Ipads/Kindle, and these contain more photos of the anchorages and attractions with additional historical notes.
