ORC World Championship - Early entry discount soon to expire

by Herman Hell on 23 Jan 2014
ORC Worlds 2014 Kiel Germany - X-Yachts Veolia will attend okpress
Following the end of this week on Friday, 31 January, the early entry discount will expire on entry fees to the 2014 ORC World Championship being held at Kieler Yacht-Club over 2-9 August. Those interested in attending this event, the official ISAF offshore World Championship, are urged to sign up this week and take advantage of the discount offered until 1 February.

Already 97 yachts from 14 nations have registered for the event, including many past and present European and World Championship winners from the past several years. At the past three ORC World Championships in Cres, Croatia, Helsinki, Finland and Ancona, Italy, there have been over 100 entries at each event, and Kiel is looking good to joint this list.

'We are happy being able to present so many entries at this point,' says Ecki von der Mosel, offshore race officer of Kieler Yacht-Club. 'This reflects the high reputation of Kiel as a location for international offshore sailing. Moreover the quality of the entries is outstanding. So far 60% of the first, second, or third-placed podium finishers from the European or World Championships of the past two years have already signed up for Kiel. Amongst them are three TP52’s who are guaranteed to produce exciting high-speed racing. With this basis we have already surpassed our initial goal of 80 entries and we are getting close to exceed the important number of 100 participants.' As Regatta Chairman, von der Mosel will be directing activities at the event, which will be based at Kiel-Schilksee and feature three classes racing on two course areas to accommodate the large fleet.

The Notice of Race is ready to be downloaded here, and for more information on how to take advantage of the early entry discount, visit Manage2Sail.
