Discover Sailing Days for Victorian sailors

Victorian sailors: Do you have a friend - or even a whole family - whom you are sure would love sailing, but they just haven't been able to make it yet? This is their chance, because yacht clubs across Victoria are inviting families and new sailors to come on board this summer.

The Discover Sailing Day program, which runs throughout January and February, gives people a chance to participate in a variety of free on and off-water activities at 23 yacht clubs participating across the region.

Yachting Victoria chief executive Steve Walker said he hopes to see some new faces getting involved.

'More than 3,000 Victorians participated in last year’s inaugural Discover Sailing program, with over 200 taking up yacht club memberships and signing up for our ‘Learn to Sail’ programs,' he said.

'We hope to see some new faces come down this summer to get their feet wet and see for themselves how safe, fun and accessible sailing really is.'

Discover Sailing program manager Gavin Wall said it was a 'unique opportunity' to have a true sailing lifestyle experience.

You don't need to have a boat, you don't need to have any equipment or knowledge, just turn up on the days specified, and learn the thrill of speeding across the water with the wind in your hair and propelling the boat.
