The Cookson 50 Victoire, skippered by Darryl Hodgkinson, is the overall winner on ratings in the 2013 Rolex Sydney Hobart yacht race.

It is not the first time the Cookson 50 has been on the winner’s podium in the blue water classic. She placed second overall in 2010 under ORC1 in the 2010 edition, sailing as Jazz, for her British owner, Chris Bull. In 2011 she returned to finish fourth overall, and repeated that effort in 2012.

A Sydney plastic surgeon, Darryl Hodgkinson was named the 2012 Ocean Racer of the Year by the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, recognising yachting excellence for the 12 month period, achieved in the previous Victoire, a Beneteau 45.

Hodgkinson was previously named Ocean Racing Rookie of the Year (2010/2011) by the CYCA for his efforts in his first Victoire.

The 10 crew are highly experienced Sydney Hobart sailors, holding a total of 63 Sydney Hobart races between them: A Henshall, J Newman, M Slinn, N Stansell, S Francis, S Kirkjian, S Guanaria, T Powell, and T Tubman.

In the 2013 Rolex Sydney Hobart, Victoire finished ninth over the line and won all the ratings trophies for IRC, IRC Div 0, ORCi Overall and ORCi - Division 1

Second overall, just over an hour behind Victoire is the Elliott 44, Veloce, Phil Simpfendorfer (VIC), with the Rogers 46, Celestial (Sam Haynes (NSW) third and German entry, the Ker 51, Varuna skippered by Jens Kellinghusen in fourth overall.

A second Cookson 50, Pretty Fly III (Colin and Gladys Woods) placed second overall in IRC Div 0 and was tenth overall.

Line Honours winner Wild Oats XI was provisionally 37th in the Overall results, with rival Perpetual Loyal 39th of the original 94 starters.

Racing is continuing; however major overall placings will not be affected.
