Rolex Sydney Hobart- 2012 Race Video by Dale and Crosbie Lorimer

by Dale Lorimer on 25 Dec 2013
Charlie’s Dream brought up the rear of the fleet on the first day of the 2012 race, but the crew enjoyed some gourmet food on the trip. Crosbie Lorimer http://www.crosbielorimer.com
For those that are lounging around on Christmas Day after a fine lunch, the short video below of last year’s race – the first video from Bow Caddy Productions – may act as a bit of a teaser for the race to come on Boxing Day and the days thereafter.

The Bow Caddy team of Dale and Crosbie Lorimer will be in Hobart again this year to capture the colour and movement of the fleet arriving and to tell something of the stories of the many crew, on boats large and small, that have tackled and completed this ocean classic.

While Crosbie continues to write and shoot stills photos as a freelance photojournalist (it’s his ninth year of coverage of the race for Club Marine Magazine and Sail-World), Dale, who comes from a film and television background as a Production Manager, is the eyes behind the lens of the video camera, the results of which you may have seen on Sail-World over recent months.

This year we’re hoping to provide some regular video updates from Hobart on the yacht arrivals in the days before the full fleet is berthed, so watch out for those on Sail-World.

Merry Christmas everyone.

From Dale and Crosbie.

(And why ‘Bow Caddy’? It was a term that Crosbie coined after many years as a mastman, racing inshore and offshore – including three Hobarts – which, for those familiar with that piece of territory on a yacht, tells something of where the real power lies in the Foredeck Union!).
