Mini Transat - Great performance by Swiss sailor Justine Mettraux

Justine Mettraux, the first Swiss woman to take part in the Mini Transat, is second after seven days of racing. Fifty miles behind the leader Aymeric Belloir, she has done an amazing regatta since the start in Sada (Spain). Indeed, she has never left the top four despite the strong sailing conditions; conditions that have forced twenty-two competitors out of eighty-four to retire. Justine has chosen a perfect path through the Canaries Islands and she is now heading South in order to reach better winds.

Bertrand Delesne, on his TeamWork prototype, was forced to do a pit stop in La Palma to solve a few technical issues. He is now fifth overall, and more motivated than ever : 'I had no other choice than to stop if I wanted to finish the race. My boat is now perfectly prepared and I am ready to cross the Atlantic. Everything is still possible, and I am going to prove it!'

After four difficult days, the fleet is now sailing in lighter conditions. 20 knots and good temperature will allow the sailors to take some rest. 2500 miles are left until Pointe-à-Pitre in Guadeloupe, the final destination. The first sailors should get there around 2nd December. TeamWork Mini Transat website
