A fleet of 45 Audi Melges 20 teams were fired-up and ready to go on day one of the 2014 Miami Winter Series, each anticipating a great day of racing. Once out on the course, it was apparent that the wind gods had made other plans.

PRO Bruce Golison put the fleet into immediate postponement just before 11 o'clock. The Race Committee communicated every wind reading over the radio for the next couple of hours, until it was determined that there was no hope of racing for the day.

'I've raced over 40 regattas here in Miami and during this time of year, sometimes this happens.' said Golison. ' The forecast was calling for a sunny, pretty decent day, but obviously they were wrong. The clouds moved in which prevented the sea breeze from moving in. There was just no sense in holding the fleet out any longer.'

'Although the forecast for tomorrow (Saturday) is light, hopefully it will change it up. We'll just have to wait and see. It's so important to have good racing,' concluded Event website
