Jose Luis Campo elected as APC President again

Argentinian Jose Luis Campo has been elected as President of the Americas Paralympic Committee (APC) for the third time.
At the 12th APC General Assembly in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Campo, an IPC Governing Member, was elected by 14 votes to three ahead of Colombian Octavio Londoño, who had been President since 2009.
Campo was first elected as founding President of the APC in 1997 and served two four year terms until 2005. In his manifesto for election, Campo outlined the need to strengthen National Paralympic Committees in the region and build the Paralympic Movement from the grassroots through to the elite level and the Paralympic Games. He called for more competitions in more countries and equal opportunities for impairment types.
During his next four year term through to 2017, Campo will be involved in three major events in the region - the Santiago de Chile 2014 Para South American Games, Toronto 2015 Parapan American Games and Rio 2016 Paralympic Game
During Friday's elections (18 October), Carla Qualtrough, the former President of the Canadian Paralympic Committee, was elected Vice President whilst Eladio Agramonte of the Dominican Republic and Mike Peters of the USA were voted in as Members at Large.
