Simply Sailing moves to Skiffies

by Clare Matthews on 12 Nov 2003
After three great years of sailing on Middle Harbour, Simply Sailing has moved to a new beachside base at the Middle Harbour 16ft Skiff Club at the Spit.

We haven't moved far, just 100m west down the Spit.

It will be business as usual for the Simply Sailing School Specialists at the Skiffies.

Our passion for sailing will continue, as will our innovative and popular sailing courses -
from Learn to Sail, through the Racing Toolbox, to the Offshore Race Track and Sea Survival.

Our Yellow Jersey twilight challenge, for sailing enthusiasts, beginners and beyond, on Friday evenings is proving our most popular social sailing event.

We mix up our courses with a generous helping of practical sailing - twilight and social -
this is the Simply Sailing School formula for success.

Principal Chris Matthews, one of the most talented & instinctive sailors in Sydney, is Simply Sailing's Secret Weapon and remains at the helm. It is Chris' commitment and passion for sailing that has built Simply Sailing from go to Whoa! in a little under seven years.

Simply Sailing has spent the last three years turning non-sailors into sailors, and beginners into club champions, introducing new folk to sailing, and keeping them on the water. Simply Sailing has fanned the flames of Middle Harbour sailing with its crew register, by which we safeguarded the all important flow of new sailing blood onto the water.

Our achievements and statistics speak for themselves, in the last year alone, 350 + beginners, 1000 charter clients, multiple boat owners and their new toys, 60 offshore sailors accredited with sea survival, a virtual twilight sailing fleet. And let's not forget perhaps Simply Sailing's biggest achievement, keeping the hatches pounding whilst the mayhem of our baby son's first year afloat surrounded us.

Families grow and move, and with growth comes adventure. The Simply Sailing School is relishing the new sailing adventures before us this year. For those of you, like us, who go
sailing 'cos we love it, and it gets us away from the corporate grudge and grind, come visit us
at the Simply Sailing floating HQ - and go for a sail!

Simply Sailing's newest addition to the family is the Water Rat, manned by Team Captain Chris Matthews - a constant & friendly reminder as they zip around the Spit betwixt sailing school folk and charter clients, avoiding skiffs and dinghies (we hope).

At the Middle Harbour Skiffies we join forces with the dinghy specialists at Northside Sailing School, offering all the small boat courses you could dream of. The Skiffies themselves are no strangers to sailing & socialising - come and check out the fabulous feasts available at the Skiffies Char Grill, the icy cold beers & wines.

It's this friendly and relaxed hospitality for which the Skiffies are famed.

A big thank you to all of our staff and clients - for your support and patronage. Join us for a
Friday night twilight sail soon or join our Frequent Floaters Club.

Follow us to the Skiffies as this is the Year of Simply Sailing.
