New Insight Genesis single-tier subscription introduced

by Andrew Golden on 3 Oct 2013
Insight Genesis™ — the personal map-generation tool for Lowrance, Simrad NS and B&G Zeus chartplotters — announced today a new single-tier, low-cost annual subscription featuring the most popular features of this premium map-making service. Following the successful launch and growing global adoption of Insight Genesis, the new subscription delivers more functionality and performance, as well as regular free-of-charge updates. Now with even greater value for consumers, the innovative Insight Genesis enables users to create maps from their own sonar logs to capture the personal detail and contours for their favorite boating and fishing areas.

'We are dedicated to aggressively adding value to our best-in-class charting solutions for Lowrance, Simrad Yachting and B&G customers,' said Leif Ottosson, CEO, Navico. 'Our new single-tier, low-cost subscription is further illustration of our commitment to providing better, easier-to-use and more affordable technology for all types of boaters and anglers to enhance every on-the-water excursion.'

Replacing the one-time download and multi-tiered subscription structure that ranged up to $299 per year, the new Insight Genesis subscription offers customers access to the ground-breaking map-creation service’s full feature set for a reduced annual fee of $99. Since introduction, the Insight Genesis map-creation tool is now being used by consumers in 22 countries, and the Insight Genesis mapping-coverage area has steadily increased by 43 percent on a monthly basis.

Insight Genesis also continues to provide free features including uploads for up to two hours of sonar logs for online viewing of maps that depict contours and depth soundings with shading, as well as automatic tidal adjustments. The new annual subscription allows customers to upload up to four hours of sonar logs as well as view charts online or save maps to an SD card for use on as many as four compatible Lowrance Elite HDI, HDS*, Simrad NS Series and B&G Zeus multifunction displays.

Additional Insight Genesis subscription features provide the ability to adjust contour intervals; merge multiple uploads; overlay bottom hardness and vegetation outline layers; analyze changes over multiple recordings with trend-analysis; securely store sonar logs, maps and a boaters’ critical trip and waypoint data online — accessible from any internet-connected device; and the option to keep recorded sonar data private or to share selected trips with the Insight Genesis community.

Existing Insight Genesis customers who purchased the previously available premium subscription for $299 will be automatically refunded $200, and users who purchased a standard subscription for $99 will receive a free upgrade adding premium features. The length of original premium and standard subscriptions purchased will remain the same.
