The Laser Radial World Championship has commenced in Rizhao, China with American Paige Railey taking the early advantage.
In the 77-boat field the American was consistent on the opening day of racing picking up a third and a second in the Yellow fleet. Whilst she didn't take a race win the fields bullets went the way of Viktorija Andrulyte (LTU) in Race 1 and Chinese sailor Xiaowen Ni in Race 2.
Andrulyte finds herself down in 37th after a disqualification in the second race but can make amends when the discard comes into play. Ni on the other hand finished 20th in the opening race and currently sits in 16th place.
In the Blue fleet the opening race win went to Sweden's Josefin Olsson who sits second overall whilst Lijia Xu (CHN) took the second bullet and is 36th after a BFD in Race 1.
