Thailand teams dominate on day one of the Qatar International Sailing

Thailand teams dominate on day one of the Qatar International Sailing Regatta winning the first two places in the Optimist Team Racing here yesterday. Two events, Sail Qatar and Qatar Match Racing Cup, form part of the five-day regatta organised by Qatar Sailing and Rowing Federation (QSRF).

Yesterday, Thailand 1 finished on top in the Sail Qatar event followed by Thailand 2. Qatar 1 clinched the third place in the race where each team sailed four times. Sailors from 14 countries are taking part in the Sail Qatar, while five countries are represented at the Qatar Match Racing Cup.

Besides hosts Qatar the other countries taking part in Sail Qatar are Brazil, Czech Republic, Germany, India, Italy, Jordan Kuwait, New Zealand, Portugal, Singapore, Thailand, UAE and United Kingdom.

The Sail Qatar competition will be held in the following classes: Optimist, Laser 4.7, Laser Radial, Laser Standard, 470 and Hobie 16. The twin events will end with final round on October 5.
