The ISAF Match Race rankings for Wednesday 25 September 2013 have been released with Taylor Canfield (ISV) remaining at world number one in the Open Rankings for the second successive release whilst Lucy Macgregor (GBR) continues to hold a strong advantage in the Women's Rankings.

Open Rankings

Taylor Canfield (ISV) maintains his world number one spot in the Open Rankings for the second successive release. Canfield took in the Knickerbocker Cup in Manhasset Bay, USA finishing sixth but the result doesn't affect his points total and he remains 234 points clear of world number two Ian Williams (GBR).

David Gilmour's steady rise up the Open Rankings continues after three strong performances at ISAF Grade 2 regattas. Gilmour took a victory at the ISAF Grade 2 International Match Race for the Detroit Cup in August and followed up with a third at the Knickerbocker Cup and a fourth at the Oakcliff International Match Race. His performances have pushed him up to world number 12 from world number 15, a personal best for the young Australian.

Denmark's Nicolai Sehested enjoyed back to back victories at the Knickerbocker Cup and the Oakcliff International Regatta in August and September. As a result the Danish match racer moves into the top ten for the first time. Coming in at world number eight the Dane has moved up four spots.

Moving back into the top 100 and into a best ranking position of world number 64 is Stephanie Roble (USA). Fifth place finishes at the Knickerbocker Cup and Detroit Cup ensured the American moved up the rankings.

Dutch Youth Open National Championship runner up Dirk-Jan Korpershoek (DEN) moves up from world number 99 to world number 72 this month whilst winner of the ISAF Grade 3 regatta Yasar Celal Tumsen (TUR) climbs to world number 102 having fallen to world number 184 since his last regatta appearance in November 2012.

With plenty of global Open Match Racing action in towards the end of August and throughout September plenty of changes are prevalent in this month's ranking release.

Women's Rankings

There are no changes in the top five of the ISAF Women's Match Race Rankings as Lucy Macgregor (GBR) holds a healthy advantage over Camilla Ulrikkeholm (DEN), Ekaterina Skudina (RUS), Lotte Meldgaard Pedersen (DEN) and Anna Kjellberg (SWE).

Helsinki, Finland played host to the sole Women's Match Racing event this month, the ISAF Grade 3 Vauraus Women's Finnish Championship.

Mikaela Fors took the honours and moves back into the Women's Match Race Rankings for the first time since 16 May 2012. With maximum points from the Grade 3 event she sits at world number 51 with her previous best of world number 24 coming on 22 May 2003.

Runner-up Susanna Kukkonen (FIN), who is ranked at world number 63 in the Open Rankings after some steady performances, sits at world number 57. Her best of world number 46 came in May 2012.

With a handful of Women's Match Racing events to go in 2013 potential shake ups throughout the rankings are possible.
