The Other Side of the Ice SW
Right across the world of the cruising sailor there are solo adventures happening, rallies bringing fun experiences and a vast number of sailors out there on the lakes, seas and oceans sailing, not for competition, but for the love of the wind and the sea.
This week is no different. One film makers tells us the story of he and his family's attempt to transit the Northwest Passage, the Turkish Lycian Yacht Rally tells of perfect days of sailing and exploring, and over in Connecticut the newly acquired crews of traditional schooners are reporting on their taste of what it was like sailing back in history, at the Connecticut Schooner Festival.
Some good practical information this week too – Ten Top Tips on caring for your inflatable dinghy; a torch you will never want to be without once you've used it; a new drawer-fridge which should help keeping your bottles cold and your electricity usage down, and John Jamison is this week talking about snatch blocks and good techniques for fixing sailing problems before they become disasters.
Much more too, so run down all the headlines until something catches your interest.
Sweet sailing!
