America's Cup- Daniel Forster fined for late arrival at 34th Match

Top international photographer, Daniel Forster has finally arrived at the 34th America's Cup. (Well he has really arrived for the Big Boat Series that is due to follow the America's Cup, but found the 34th Match still in progress)

Here's his musings (Ed: read excuses) ahead of his 12th America's Cup.

None has been the same.....

Another day at the office:

After a week’s work at the New York Yacht Club Invitational presented by Rolex, I finished working at the prize giving Saturday night.

Got up at 4 AM on Monday morning in Jamestown RI, took off from Providence at 6 AM for Chicago,

Got delayed in Chicago and arrived in San Francisco an hour late, took a taxi to the hotel where my 500 mm lens was waiting and went straight to the St Francis Yacht Club shoreline. Arrived 10 minutes before the start, photographed it and the first mark rounding while the taxi was waiting with my luggage.

Deposited the luggage at the St Francis Yacht Club and took pictures of the second race and went home for dinner with the landlady who had a party for friends, 98 year old Chuck Williams, founder of Williams-Sonoma included.

(Yes, call me name dropper….)

And yes, he was fined $20 on the spot, in the Media Centre by SINS (Society of Nautical Scribes) for being late to the Cup.

And last night:

It took a long journey, 12 America's Cups from 1977 to 2013, to watch the JOURNEY concert. More than 35 years into their illustrious career in music, Journey is still on the road.
