Clipper Round The World Race - More testing conditions

In the Clipper 13-14 Race, Derry-Londonderry-Doire is now top of the leader board, after another 24 hours of testing conditions on board the 12 strong fleet of racing yachts competing.

With just under 3,700 miles to Race Finish of Race two for current first place entry Derry-Londonderry-Doire, Henri Lloyd will be doing all it can to regain its title as leader of the pack. In the 24 hours Mission Performance has claimed third place in Race two, but with less than a mile separating the top ten in the fleet this race is anyone’s for the taking.

Eric Holden, skipper of Henri Lloyd reflects on the rivalry and the close racing in the last 24 hours.

'Derry-Londonderry-Doire will be hard to catch and we will fight for every mile. We believe we will have them in visual at day break and are looking forward to continuing the close rivalry we shared in Race 1 across the English Channel. There is increased excitement on board that after 1000 miles of racing we will be locked into the same drag race as leaving Brest six days ago where we rounded the first turning mark in first and second.

In other news we reported yesterday how PSP Logistics, which carries the spare water maker, was instructed to suspend racing to meet and transfer its spare to GREAT Britain as its water maker had stopped working. The transfer was successful and both entries have since resumed racing.
