At the end of the media conference each day the Kiwi media and others put down a scrum against Emirates Team NZ skipper Dean Barker and who-over has appeared with him in the preceding formal Media Conference.
Normally these are so tight that it is very hard to hear what is being said - but with the aid of an iPhone and a remote directional microphone - you can hear the sailor's answer the media questions - raw and unedited.
On Day 4, Dean Barker and wingsail trimmer Glen Ashby, were on the spot, literally pinned against the back wall of the Media Conference area. The way these work is that, in fact, two scrums are put down - one around each sailor. They then are switched to the other group at 'half-time'.
We hope to be able to put these up at the and of each day until the end of the regatta.
