In the Clipper 13-14 Round the World Yacht Race, it’s been a challenging night for the 12 strong fleet of racing yachts competing, as the fleet battle to make gains in Race two, the road to Rio de Janeiro.

With Great Britain still in the lead at this stage of the race, less than a mile separates second place Henri Lloyd and third place Invest Africa on the leader board. While PSP Logistics had a triumphant night pulling out all the stops overnight taking them from second to last on the leaders’ board to fourth place.

Great Britain is holding on tight to first position in Race two, and with the fleet approaching the first major ocean crossing in the race, skipper Simon Talbot has been enjoying getting see what the Clipper 70 is really capable of.

'During the evening, we also found out how the Clipper 70 handles at 20 plus knots of boat speed for the first time, and boy, it’s a bit of an animal! I can't wait for the Southern Ocean but it will require our helms to develop incredible skill and wind awareness before we get there. Next on my target list, 30 plus Clipper Round the World

Grabbing chances with both hands
Can bad weather actually lead to more sailing? There's been no getting away from the fact that it's been a pretty miserable start to 2024 weather-wise in the UK. February saw record rainfall (yes, I know we're famed for our rain over here), it's been seriously windy and generally chilly.
