After a number of successful smaller events that have taken place at one of the best freestyle spots in Europe, the owner of the Zeil- and Surfcentrum Brouwersdam is making his dream of a big international windsurf event a reality this year. With a team of highly motivated and dedicated members Uwe Jendrusch, father of the EFPT rookie of the year 2012 Rick Jendrusch, planned and worked on the DAM7 event for the past two years.
Owning one of the most popular and most discussed Surf centers worldwide there was never really a chance to begin with a small scale event. Having a great venue available, the DAM7 crew organized a massive event from the scratch. Starting from a PWA tour-stop for both men and women as well as an exceptional surrounding program reaching from concerts to big parties, the team also got the EFPT on board to run the tow-in competition with 3.000€ prize money.
The tow-in itself will be executed on four days out of six between the eighth and 13th of September, depending on the conditions. There will be the possibility to run it during the day and also during the evening/night if necessary. Similar to the Chiemsee European Tow-In Championship in Podersdorf earlier this season, we'll see three qualification rounds with ten riders plus one wildcard, respectively. The wildcards will be assigned by the European Tour and the organizer and therefor can also be given to a female competitor. Some ladies who are participating in the women's PWA freestyle already declared their interest in participating, which would be a great addition to the EFPT. In the final we'll see the top three out of each fleet plus one lucky loser.
Having arrived yesterday in Holland, the EFPT crew was welcomed very warmly by the local organizers at an outstanding event-site. With the weather clearing up and most of the riders already present we expect to do some test runs today. The official registration for both the tow-in and the PWA freestyle will start at 10.00 am tomorrow morning. Afterwards the official starter list will be updated. Unfortunately we already have the confirmation that European tow-in champion Steven Van Broeckhoven (JP/Neilpryde) will only focus on the PWA this time and won't attend the EFPT as he injured himself during tow-in practice just few days ago.
We are happy to report from site on a daily basis and are looking forward to a high number of competitors and a good show! Stay
