Australia’s Tristan Brown has won the 2013 Laser Radial Men’s World Championship after a nail-biting final day in Dublin, Ireland.

Brown went into the final two races in Dublin 18 points clear of second place after winning six of the opening 10 races.

But the final day of the 2013 Laser Radial Men’s World Championship was a tough one for the defending champion who had a 15th and a 16th, but the West Australian’s efforts earlier in the week had given him enough of a buffer and he took the title by two points ahead of fast finishing Polish sailor Marcin Rudawski.

Fellow Australian Bradley Utting finished 39th and Nicholas Howe was 30th in the silver fleet.

The Laser European Championship wrapped up at the same time in Dublin with Matthew Wearn the best placed Australian in seventh.

Wearn began the final day in 12th position, with an 11th and a fifth moving him up the leader board to finish seventh at his first Laser European Championship.

Though Wearn’s final day wasn't without some drama after the West Australian hit the top mark while in second place. The mistake had dropped him to 17th by the time he got to the bottom mark but he fought back exceptionally well, making up 13 places on the next beat.

Ashley Brunning finished the week in 10th position following a ninth and a 32nd from the final two races.

Ryan Palk had a 10th and an eighth on Friday to finish 15th overall, with Jared West two places behind after a fourth and a 21st.
