Phuket King’s Cup- a prestigious platform for Asia-aligned sponsors

by Event Media on 3 Sep 2013
Phuket King’s Cup 2012. The Beaver. Guy Nowell
The Phuket King's Cup Regatta is famed for being Asia's largest major boating event. Recognised throughout the eastern hemisphere as the premier sailing event of its kind, the Phuket King’s Cup Regatta will once more put on a spectacular display of the finest sailing talent from around the world, competing in Andaman Sea off Phuket Island, to win the ‘must-have’ royal trophy in all of Asia, from 30th November – sixth December 2013. Over 35 countries with over 1,000 sailors will be represented in total, with a strong showing expected of Thai and Asian sailors.

Ahead of forthcoming AEC integration in 2015, there is strong focus on Thailand as one of ASEAN’s essential gateways to growth in Asia, with many companies looking to leverage marketing opportunities with better return-on-investment than traditional paid advertising methods. For 2013, the Phuket King’s Cup Regatta Organizing Committee is focused on attracting new sponsors of differing sizes to augment its existing repeat sponsors. Various comprehensive sponsorship packages and partnership opportunities are available, and include corporate hospitality as part of a range of inclusive benefits.

Its series of beachside parties is legendary, attracting over 1,500 revellers who enjoy live music, great atmosphere, and food, drink and entertainment provided by event sponsors. The Phuket King's Cup Regatta also generates significant revenue for the local economy, and serves to the benefit of its sponsors, many of which return year after year to take advantage of its exceptional customer engagement opportunity and strong media magnetism.

The Phuket King’s Cup Regatta’s association with high quality resorts in Phuket, as well as cross-affiliation with other high end co-sponsors, forms a unique and potentially lucrative sponsorship platform for supporting organizations. Last year’s sponsors included Kata Group Resorts Thailand, Singha Corporation, Siam Winery, Land Rover with The Nation, Phuket Gazette, Phuket Magazine, Sail-World.com, SEA Yachting and YachtStyle Asia as media partners.

As a principal fixture on the Asian regatta circuit, the Phuket King’s Cup Regatta under Royal Patronage annually features upwards of 100 boats, ranging from high tech to live-aboard ocean cruisers, multihulls and classics. International-standard race management is combined with lively beach parties to create this world-renowned yacht racing exhibition.
