Doyle Sails New Zealand has merged with Westhaven-based Beacon Marine, effective as of 1 September 2013.

The Beacon Westhaven office – on the corner of Westhaven Drive and Curran St – will now serve as a central waterside base for Doyle’s one-stop-shop of marine offerings, including sails, service, rigging, upholstery and covers.

The change will see the cessation of the Beacon Sails and rigging division, but business as usual for the Beacon Marine electronics and equipment division which will work alongside Doyle Sails. 'We see a really nice harmony between the two businesses, covering all aspects of marine needs,' said Scott Mclaren, Director of Beacon Marine. 'It also means that all our customers will receive the benefits of Doyle’s international reputation, facilities and innovation.'

This move further cements Doyle’s already strong representation in the local market and specifically within the important Westhaven area. Doyle New Zealand’s main office, manufacturing plant and service facility will still be based at their 7000sqm plant in Avondale, while all local Westhaven sail drop offs, pickups and collections for all of the Doyle products will be from the new Westhaven office.

The merger also sees Simon Kidd, joint founder of Beacon Sails, rejoin the Doyle sales team after a hiatus of two years, working alongside Andy Pilcher at the new Westhaven office. 'I have had a working relationship with Doyle for 11 years, and it is a great team to be rejoining,' said Kidd. 'Simon’s return to Doyle is very exciting and a great addition to our local sales and service team,' said Chris McMaster, Managing Director of Doyle Sails New Zealand. 'He brings a wealth of experience back to Doyle NZ, and I am looking forward to working closely with him again on a wide range of products and services. Simon has a great rapport with the local customer base and complements our already extremely strong team.'

Doyle Sails boasts one of the most experienced teams in the local and international industry, with a management team of Chris McMaster, Managing Director, Mike Sanderson, Head of Sales, Richard Bouzaid, Head of Design, and David Duff, General Manager. The sales team is made up of Matt Bridge, Superyacht Sail Coordinator; Andy Pilcher, Local, Pacific and Asia Sales, Justin Ferris, Sales and Racing Technology; and Simon Kidd, Local Sales.
