PSP reveals Clipper Yacht Race entry Clipper Round The World Yacht Race http://www.clipperroundtheworld.com
First time Team Sponsor Premier Shipping and Packing Limited (PSP) officially revealed their first ever entry in the nine-race history of the Clipper Round the World Race this afternoon. The yacht, part of the new state of the art fleet of ocean racers debuting in the 2013-14 edition of the Clipper Race, will be called PSP Logistics.

Founder and Chairman of the Clipper Race, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, who officially named the yacht today with PSP Managing Director Frank Dixie, said: 'PSP have been our official supplier for the past two editions of the Clipper Race. For a company used to delivering boats all over the world, often to very tight deadlines, it’ll be interesting to see how their very own yacht entry progresses during its 40,000-mile, 11 month challenge.'

The Hampshire based global logistics provider, well known for its sponsorship of the PSP Southampton Boat Show, is a specialist in shipping boats around the globe. Already the Official Logistics Partner for the Clipper 13-14 Round the World Yacht Race, PSP has handled logistics for the race for the previous two events as well as being a logistics consultant to the America's Cup.

Frank Dixie, Managing Director of PSP, said: 'We are vehemently passionate about the marine industry and the sport of sailing. We’ve admired the Clipper Race for years and relished every minute of being Official Logistics Partner. Now we’re even more involved in the Clipper Race as a Team Sponsor, which is an amazing opportunity to build our profile on a global platform, while supporting something very important to us.'

Today it was revealed that 33-year-old Australian yachtsman, Chris Hollis will skipper the PSP Logistics yacht entry around the globe during the 40,000-mile, 11-month challenge. No stranger to success, Chris has taken part in two editions of the famous Sydney-Hobart Race, securing two podium finishes.

Chris said today: 'I am extremely proud to skipper PSP Logistics and to represent a company that has such strong values. I can’t wait to fly the flag for PSP Logistics during the circumnavigation. There is so much I’m looking forward to, but standing on that podium is absolutely a goal the whole team will be aiming to achieve.'

In this year's race, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Panama Canal, the leg from San Francisco to Panama will be called the ‘PSP Logistics Challenge’ and the winning team will be awarded the PSP Logistics trophy.

Frank Dixie, Managing Director of PSP, said: 'Chris is a fantastic skipper and we're delighted to have him at the helm of PSP Logistics. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity for the crew and Chris and we are hugely excited to be involved in it.'

The Clipper 13-14 Race will set off from St Katharine Docks, London on Sunday, 1 September on a 40,000-mile journey around the globe, making it the world’s longest ocean race, stopping at 15 ports on six continents over 11 months. For more information visit Clipper Round the World
